Wavy Gravy

Wavy Gravy (Hugh Nanton Romney Jr) is a CIA agent, used in the media to play the role of Joker clown (the Fool) and archetypal rainbow colored hippie in the counterculture of the 60's (the New Age Church), as one of Ken Kesey's Merry Pranksters with Stewart Brand, Paul Krassner and the Grateful Dead.

He was educated at Boston University and Neighborhood Playhouse. He was a friend of Bob Dylan and performed at the Gaslight Café in Greenwich Village.

In 1963 he appeared in movie The Fat Black Pussycat.

The Merry Pranksters were involved in mind control experiments with LSD and other drugs through Owsley Stanley.

He co-founded hippie commune Hog Farm with Dianne Lake of the Manson Family.

Members of the Hog Farm appeared in Otto Preminger's Paramount Pictures movie Skidoo with Mickey Rooney, Frankie Avalon (movies with Anette Funicello), Cesar Romero (played the Joker), Groucho Marx and Donyale Luna. Rudi Gernreich (partner of OTO member Harry Hay) designed the costumes.

He and the Hog Farm were used during the Woodstock festival media ritual. He worked with The Grateful Dead and jesuit Timothy Leary.

He was a member of the parody religion Church of the Subgenius, wich like Discordianism, used the one eye pyramid symbol. Like the Church of Scientology, it incorporates extraterrestials in its mythology. Other members were David Byrne (Talking Heads), Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), Alex Cox (Sid and Nancy film with Gary Oldman and Courtney Love), Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman), Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs with Jodie Foster, worked under Roger Corman), Paul Mavrides (comic scene), Patrick Volderling (Linux), Robert Anton Wilson, Frank Zappa (Laurel Canyon, Edgewood Arsenal also linked to MK Ultra), Ken Kesey and Robert Crumb (Haight-Ashbury scene).

In 1971 he appeared in About Me: a Musical with Allen Ginsberg and in Columbia Pictures movie Cisko Pike with Kris Kristofferson, Gene Hackman, Karen Black, Viva and Harry Dean Stanton.

He had a show on Sirius Radio (Sirius is associated with the Fool). His wife Bonnie Beecher dated Bob Dylan and played in episodes of The Twilight Zone and Star Trek.

He founded the Seva Foundation with Richard Alpert, Larry Brilliant (WHO) and Govindappa Venkataswami (student of Sri Aurobindo), funded by Steve Jobs.

In 1997 he appeared in The Last Trip of Timothy Leary.

In 2000 he appeared in Ken Kesey's Twister a Musical Adventure (Wizard of Oz programming) with Timothy Leary.

In 2008 he played in Electric Apricot: Quest for Festeroo (orange and lightning symbolism) of Les Claypool (Primus) with Bob Weir (Grateful Dead), Matt Stone (South Park).

In 2009 he appeared in Saint Misbehavin': the Wavy Gravy Movie with Richard Alpert, Larry Brilliant and Michael Lang, produced by Don Alan Pennebaker (Crisis about the Kennedys, Don't Look Back about Bob Dylan, Up Your Legs Forever of John Lennon).

Tre Cool of Green Day (mind control symbolism of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in Basket Case music video) stayed at his Winnarainbow camp.
