Samson
| Samson (man of the sun, Shamesh) is a solar hero in the Book of Judges of the Bible, of the long haired Tribe of Dan with scales symbol. He defeated a lion like Herakles (Tarot card Strength, controlling the solar lion, in older cards Forza with a broken pillar). Hair represent the rays of the sun, which during winter under influence of Saturn, loses his light, his hair. Laylah (night) consumes the sun like Judas betraying Jesus (also paid in silver, metal of the moon), Judith decapitating Holofernes and Salomé decapitating John the Baptist. The Talmud claims Dalilah tempted Samson through sex (Lust), cutting off hair is a symbol of chastity. |  |
He fought the Philistines (race of giants). He is betrayed by Delilah like Jesus by Judas Iscariot, who cuts his hair while sleeping on her lap (Cup of Whore of Babylon). The Philistines gouged out his eyes, bound him to fetters of brass (becoming blind through temptations of the earthly realm) and force him to turn a grinding mill (the Wheel of the Tarot) in Gaza, where his hair started to grow again.
He made the temple of Dagon (later Oannes and John the Baptist) of the Philistines collapse. Bringing the house down (11: 2 pillars Boaz and Joachin) is astrological symbolism of the sun starting a new cycle= crucifiction of Jesus, destroying the old self (the Tower).
