Robert Anton Wilson

Robert Anton Wilson was a mind controlled CIA agent, used to promote Aleister Crowley and to revive the Illuminati hoax in the hippie counterculture of the 70's. He worked as a journalist and editor of Playboy (rabbit logo, Alice in Wonderland programming). He started the philosophy of Discordianism, worship of the goddess Eris (number 23). He helped introducing the one eye pyramid symbol (Crowley's The Equinox) in pop culture.

He was influenced by Bertrand Russell, Carl Jung, Robert Heinlein,... He was educated at New York University. He experimented with mescaline in 1961.

Like Ken Kesey, Gregory Bateson, Terence McKenna and Paul Krassner, he worked for CIA front Esalen Institute.

He was a member of the parody religion Church of the Subgenius, which like Discordianism, used the one eye pyramid symbol. Like the Church of Scientology, it incorporates extraterrestials in its mythology. Other members were David Byrne (Talking Heads), Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), Alex Cox (Sid and Nancy film with Gary Oldman and Courtney Love), Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman), Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs with Jodie Foster, worked under Roger Corman), Paul Mavrides (comic scene), Patrick Volderling (Linux), Ken Kesey, Frank Zappa (Laurel Canyon, Edgewood Arsenal also linked to MK Ultra), Wavy Gravy (hippie commune with Manson Family member Dianne Lake) and Robert Crumb (Haight-Ashbury scene).

Wilson published in Paul Krassner's The Realist with contributions of Norman Mailer, Abbie Hoffman, Woody Allen, Nicholas Kazan (son of Elia Kazan ACCF), Albert Ellis (CCNY, worked with Alfred Kinsey, friend of George W Bush and Bill Clinton), Jerry Rubin, Ken Kesey, Robert Crumb, Bruce Jay Friedman (Woody Allen movies), Garry Trudeau (elite school St Paul's, Scroll & Key), Richard Pryor, Phil Ochs, Lenny Bruce, Harry Shearer (The Simpsons, The Truman Show), Joseph Heller (NYU, film with Orson Welles), Jules Feiffer (The Village Voice), Terry Southern (Olympia Press, Beatniks of Greenwich Village, Swinging London, Dr Strangelove with Kubrick, Easy Rider),...

The Realist published the Disney Memorial Orgy poster in 1966. It also published conspiracy theories on the JFK ritual, and the Patty Hearst media ritual, supported by John Lennon.

He worked for Fact of Ralph Ginsberg (CCNY, collegue of jesuit Jackie Kennedy at Times-Herald, his magazine Eros published Allen Ginsberg and nude pictures of Marilyn Monroe).

From 1967 he worked for Playboy of Hugh Hefner, like Robert Shea, Paul Krassner and marxist Arthur Koestler (CCF, drug research with Timothy Leary).

Like Leary, he was a friend of Allen Ginsberg. He interviewed Michael Hollingshead for High Times.

His Illuminatus books mixed facts and fiction about the JFK ritual, features Sigmund Freud, Albert Einstein, Aleister Crowley and Pan (=Saturn) as characters.

It became a trope in the Conspiracy Church and was the inspiration for the Illuminati card game of Steve Jackson (Alex Jones associate). Rip Off Press (Haight-Ashbury comic scene) published a comic book version. Robert Shea also wrote All Things Are Lights about the gnostic Cathars.

In 1977 jesuit trained CIA agent Timothy Leary wrote the foreword of his book Cosmic Trigger, The Final Secret of the Illuminati. In Cosmic Trigger, Wilson claims to be telepathically in contact with extraterrestrials from Sirius (the Blazing Star in freemasonry). Leary was also a friend of Carol Rosin, spokesperson of Wernher von Braun (Operation Paperclip), part of Steven Greer's Disclosure Project and his Sirius documentary.

He was interviewed with Genesis P-Orridge by Richard Metziger of the Disinformation Company, which also publishes Alex Jones.

In 1991 he participated in a conference on psychedelics at Stanford with Timothy Leary, John Lilly and Terence McKenna, reviewed by High Times.

In 2003 he was promoted in High Times (Paul Krassner). He wrote about the 23 Enigma, used in The Number 23 with Jim Carrey.
