Michael Bowen was a CIA propaganda agent affiliated with the Theosophical Society, used in the art scene and to play a role in the CIA controlled Beatnik and hippie counterculture. His mother had a relationship with Ashkenazi jewish mobster Benjamin 'Bugsy' Siegel. Through his mother he was related to the family of John Carradine (OTO). He was trained at the Chouinard Art Institute (affiliated with Disney) like Reid Miles (Blue Note Records) and Wallace Berman (Easy Rider). |

He worked with Ed Kienholz (Guggenheim Fellowship), Jay DeFeo, Wallace Berman (Sgt Pepper's cover with Crowley) and Ferus Gallery in LA.
In 1966 (year of Church of Satan) he founded the San Francisco Oracle with Allen Cohen, promoting Allen Ginsberg and other Beatniks. Designer Rick Griffin designed covers for Grateful Dead, was part of surf culture, founded Zap Comix, publishing the work of Robert Crumb, Paul Mavrides (Church of the SubGenius) and Spain Rodriguez (SM theme).
In january 1967 he organized the Human Be-In in San Francisco with jesuit Timothy Leary (godfather of Uma Thurman), Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder (Esalen), Dick Gregory (Civil Rights Movement, Playboy Club), Lenore Kandel (The New School, Kenneth Anger movie with Anton LaVey, Mick Jagger and Manson follower Bobby Beausoleil), Alan Watts and music by Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and the Holding Company (concept of George Orwell, produced by Bob Shad, grandfather of Hollywood director Judd Apatow) with Janis Joplin and Grateful Dead.
The event introduced the one eye pyramid symbol in the New Age culture.
He studied the Bhagavad Gita and promoted its translator Swami Prabhupada.
He was a friend of Samson de Brier who played Aleister Crowley in Kenneth Anger's Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome with Whore of Babylon archetype Marjorie Cameron and of Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper, who played in Roger Corman's LSD commercial The Trip.
In NY he worked with Leary and Richard Alpert.
He was the father of mind controlled actor Michael Bowen Jr (born 6/21 like William V) used in the Hollywood film industry.
