He was present at the funeral of Gianni Versace with Sting and Diana Spencer.He recorded the song Candle In the Wind for Diana's funeral, a song also used for the funeral of Marilyn Monroe. He was the godfather of David Beckham.
He sang a duet with Eminem. In 2012 he played in a Pepsi commercial with a masonic floor.
In 2019 the movie Rocketman was released (Taron Egerton as Elton John) with a poster similar to The Aviator and Strange Angel about rocket scientist Jack Parsons.
